3-Day Mason’s Training on Earthquake-Resistant construction practices conducted at Sonitpur

6 February 2025: The District Disaster Management Authority, DDMA Sonitpur, District Commissioner, Sonitpur in collaboration with Edupur Foundation successfully organized a three-day training program for masons on earthquake-resistant construction practices at Bihaguri Development Block Tumuki, Sonitpur.

The training programme was inaugurated by Shri Garga Mohan Das, Additional District Commissioner cum CEO of DDMA, in the presence of:

✅ Samarendra Sarma, BDO, Bihaguri Development Block, Sonitpur

✅ Jyoti Borah, Asst Executive Engineer, PWD(Bldg.)

✅ Devarshi Borah, Asst Engineer, PWD(Bldg.)

✅ Partha Pratim Sarma, District Project Officer, DDMA

✅ Pranjal Bharali, Field Officer, Tezpur Revenue Circle

✅Amit Raj Konwar, Director, Edupur Foundation

The training aimed to enhance the skills of local masons by equipping them with essential knowledge on disaster-resilient construction techniques. Experts and engineers conducted hands-on sessions, emphasizing best practices for building structures that can withstand seismic activity.

Speaking on the occasion, representatives from DDMA Sonitpur highlighted the importance of such capacity-building initiatives in reducing disaster risks in the region. The Edupur Foundation team also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting safe construction practices for a more resilient community.

Participants received certificates upon completion of the training, empowering them to implement earthquake-resistant methods in their work. This initiative is expected to contribute significantly to safer infrastructure development in Sonitpur and beyond.
